A fun time was had by all at last Tuesday’s City Impro & Friends show. We had City Impro tell the story of Jack the scaffolder who builds Waitroses with his boisterous friend Ginger, a press conference that revealed Rupert the Bear murdered poor Winnie the Pooh after being jealous of Winnie’s scarf, and an unsuspecting customer returning his crate of hallucinogenic butter to a shop of similar curious items. In fact we couldn’t believe it wasn’t butter!

We then had the fantastic Goldfish Fire Alarm tell the story of the dancing prawn that was in fact a time reversing machine – but only when an Abba tune is on. We also had brilliant musical improv from Red Lorry Yellow Lorry where we visited the Spiky Spoon Cabaret club that recounted the first world problems Londoners have and an attempt to woo the audience through the power of a heartfelt love song.

City Impro’s next show is this Tuesday. It’s our last one of our season and the last one at the Red Lion in Moorgate. Fear not, you’ll see more of City Impro soon enough – in the meantime do come join us for what will be a spectacular night.

Oh yes, this Tuesday features not just fantastically funny impro from City Impro but also awesome improv from another two guest groups. We welcome back Play It By Ear and The Void for what is going to be a blast of a night. Here’s the details so that you can come on down:

Thanks to everyone who came down last Tuesday and packed out our City Impro & Friends show. If you weren’t there you missed City Impro present a quest by a chicken to Mordor, a confession to the murder of a Muppet, hamsters who couldn’t get enough of their wheel and in a bizarre twist a surprise appearance by a Korean Elvis.

In a bumper-bill of guest groups we first of all had Slacker perform a great set featuring tumbleweed in the desert, old people refusing to take their pills and a dance of unspoken love. We then had Crime Scene Improvisation solve the murder of Basil Charles, a citrus fruit taxidermist at the Natural History Museum.

If you missed all the fun of last week we have some great news for you. City Impro are back next Tuesday and we’re hosting a bumper packed show. We’ll have some story-telling from Goldfish Fire Alarm, musical improv from Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and some fun and games from The Fictionators. It’s so jam-packed we’re starting HALF AN HOUR EARLIER at 7.30pm just to fit everything in.

Come down and join us for what we think will be an extraordinary evening. Here’s the details:

What a fun time we had in this Tuesday’s show! If you were there you would have witnessed the confession for a Royal murder, a farmer and sheep indulging their passion for class A drugs, the story of Cornelius and his wet bed sheets, as well as a cannibal going for a job as a mortuary’s beautician.

We then had the fantastic Goldfish Fire Alarm act out a tale of when the older generation, led by Bruce Forsyth, rose up to take over the world until they were stopped by the musical tones from the iPod of a group of upper class advertising executives.

The good news is if you missed that show City Impro are back with some more friends this Tuesday. Join us as we welcome Slacker and CSI (that’s (Crime Scene Improvisation) for an extraordinary evening.

Here’s a little bit of info about CSI’s part of the show to whet your appetite:

There’s been a murder! And their detective needs your help.

Someone’s kicked the bucket. But who? We need YOU to help our CSI identify the victim and what caused their grizzly death.

Then watch closely as the play unfolds and we meet our victim’s so-called friends. Could one of them be – dum dum dummm – a murderer? Welcome to the most gripping murder mystery of them all. Nobody knows who the killer is. Not even the actors!

Our detective will haul in the most guilty-looking for a police line-up and we’ll need your help in grilling this desperate gang. So start coming up with questions now.

Whodunnit? Let’s find out!
