What a fun evening we had on Tuesday! The City Impro team’s show featured a rather naughty Vladimir Putin gatecrashing a party and laying siege to the snack table, we had a defective cheerleading build-a-bear that lacked a heart, and we had the war between frogs and toads, with Kermit and Toad of Toad Hall leading the conflict, before uniting in a overly-friendly way back in Toad’s bedroom.

Then Goldfish Fire Alarm treated us to a debate between Brian Cox and the effervescent Brian Blessed on the Crimea War (where we delved into rather a few fascinating facts, including that Chinese restaurants globally all follow the same numbering convention on their menus, allegedly). Then we topped it all with a funtastic impro jam between City Impro, Goldfish Fire Alarm and other improvisers who joined in.

City Impro is back for more fantastically funny improvised comedy this Tuesday 8th April! And we’re joined by some more special friends – this weeks it’s Pop-Up Impro and Play It By Ear.

City Impro hosts the “City Impro & Friends show” every Tuesday night at the Red Lion. If you weren’t there this week here’s some of the things you missed:
- The delightful story of Geoffrey Bishop Baltimore and the calligraphy pen of doom (whose last chapter was performed entirely in rap).
- City Impro setting up a driving school for the blind.
- Us interviewing some very inappropriate candidates to work in Costa Coffee – let’s just say, none of them were right for the job.
On top of all that we also squeezed in two sets of friends. Friend of a Friend gave us the tale of an actress becoming president of the USA who had to rescue two Canadian backpackers stuck in Europe, whilst the Alphabetties took us to a Waterstones bookshop where talking books, sibling rivalry and a boss in love with his employee all collided with each other.
Hopefully see you on stage on Tuesday!

What a fantastic evening we all had on Tuesday, thank you to everyone who came along and made it an awesome night – it was literally hanging-off-the-ceiling-room-only!

If you made it along you would have seen our party host be preyed upon by a midwife preparing to help him give birth and the unexpected discovery of the passengers of missing flight MH370 by none other than Courtney Love. We also had the curious story of the store dispensing cheese that ravishes your senses with its stink, so long as you’re prepared to adopt the little things and give them a good life. A volunteer from the audience also had her life story told as we delved into her world of law, the struggle to win over her best friend from the man he had a bromance with, and the slightly odd and frisky lecturer.

We were then treated to an intriguing telling through the medium of solo improv by 1X1 of a child’s discussion with the vicar about God and when they were being watched by the almighty, before Shorts took to the stage and broke out some poetry and some beats, finishing off with the story of Quiltby and the tales of its villagers amid the riots, the Mayoral elections, and the desperate lack of threads to make pillow cases!

The best news you’ll hear all week is that City Impro is back for more fantastically funny improvised comedy on Tuesday 25th March!

As we have so many friends, we’ve decided to invite another two groups along next week – we have The Alphabetties an all-female group AND we have Friend of a Friend both, performing some superb long-form improvisation.

We’ve just about recovered from last Tuesday’s exploits at City Impro, thanks to everyone who came down and shared some laughs with us. We told the tale of Horris Fenton and the Hullabaloo, found a cannibal a date and our cops solved the case of the pork based death of Russell Brand at Heathrow airport. We’ve still not heard back on our pitches for new TV series this autumn, hopefully ”Pagan & McQuade: Victorian detectives”, “Time Friends” and “Acquaintances” will be picked up by a cable channel! Our friends Storybag then topped off the evening recalling the life of Timothy the time traveller who lead the goblin dinosaurs to defeat in the great dinosaur war.

The good news is that City Impro is back for more fantastically funny improvised comedy on Tuesday 18th March!

As we have so many friends, we’ve decided to invite two groups along next week – 1X1, a brand new one-man group and Shorts who make noise, scare boys and spin faster than your alloys.
